Running Fools

Back in March or April my friend and I came across a 5K (3.1 miles) called the "Dam 5K" in Rupert, Idaho.  We figured the fee itself would be worth the t-shirt, haha.  So Wendy and I signed up for the 5K.  Although I'd run this much before, it made it official now since it's a real race I guess.  Since Bryson is gone 5 days a week in Idaho Falls I had to run pushing both girls in the stroller - no easy feat since we live at the top of a fairly rough hill.

Pre-Race - Wendy and I both still smiling!  We each pushed one of our kids!  Those who ran pushing a child in a jogger got entered into a drawing for new jogger!

After the race photo - not the gentlest picture on your eyes, sorry!  I don't know my exact time since they were having issues with the clock, but we guess I ran it pushing Brynn in about 29 minutes.

Brynn became awfully quiet about 1 mile into the run but since it was raining I had the plastic cover over her and couldn't tell.  Plus her breathing fogged up the windows!  When we opened it, this is what we found!
The perfect running buddy :)

And I'm pleased to say that there were only about 8-10 parents who pushed a child so the odds were on my side for the drawing!  I never win anything and so I was thrilled to win this beauty!!

It's a brand new $100 jogging stroller!  I'm very excited and although it's only a single seater, I've actually gotten a fair amount of use out of it recently!

Pioneer Day is a big celebration in Utah and Idaho.  Pocatello was having a Fun Run 5K and 10K that Saturday and so I signed Bryson and myself up :)  So loving of me right?!  This was our first "official" 10K (6.2 miles) and we actually did it in decent time.  Figure this is preparation for our next big race!

This is Bryson and I before the race.  We took turns pushing Abby while Brynn stayed back on the playground and played with her Aunt Jenny!  It was nice to have her in town for a quick weekend visit!!

Our next adventure of the year is going to be The Grand Teton Relay which is a 188 mile run starting in Ashton, Idaho and runs through the Teton Mountains and finally ends in Jackson, WY.  Our team, Running From The 80's, is a 12 person team made up of9 females and 3 males.  It's been difficult to keep a team of 12 together since people continually drop out due to medical issues, family plans, financial situations, etc.  But now everything is in place and we are set to run 12 people in 2 vehicles over a 188 mile range (each running 3 legs)  in less than 36 hours!  It should be fun!!  I think the best part is the costumes some of the people are wearing..it will be awesome!

The last mini-adventure planned for the year is the "Temple To Temple" relay which is 37.2 miles going from the Rexburg Temple to the Idaho Falls Temple.  I'm just a single runner joining my brother's "friend" Ari's team since they were short a few runners. I had hoped to find enough BYU-I alumni to put together an all girls team, but too many of my friends had/are having babies right now, lol.  Maybe next year?  But it should be fun - it's an 8 man team which means we each only run 1 leg!  Easy enough, right?!

I'll be sad to see summer leave though but there are always races next summer!  On to new adventures (another relay race?  The Dirty Dash? A half marathon?)
